How would you feel about being in a fashion show? This past fall, Bloomingdales in Chicago asked Fashion Over Fifty if they would like to produce a Fashion Show featuring women over fifty. What an honor!!! Since Fashion Over Fifty is dedicated to helping women Over Fifty shine, we jumped at the chance! We set the date for December 6.
Starting last November, we began recruiting models. With help from friends and family, we were lucky to find fifteen absolutely fabulous women from the four decades after 50.
To make it even more fun, we brought along my favorite and only Runway Coach, Mark David Carter. Mark has spent numerous years teaching models the basics and tricks of runway modeling. Practice began. Mark in his kind and non-judgmental way, demonstrated the various techniques: the Model T, the quarter turn, taking off the coat, and other tricks that models do… but we can’t divulge these secrets to everyone!!!
The ladies LOVED it. Over Fifty and feeling like they were pretty enough, talented enough, and confident (almost) enough to walk down a runway. What an ego boost for women who up until now have been invisible in the media, advertising, and in designers fashions.
