I’m always impressed with female entrepreneurs — and I’m not just talking about BA50 Founder Felice Shapiro who happens to teach about that very subject for Tufts University. The recent issue of 914Inc magazine highlights many women in my own backyard (Westchester County, NY) who have successfully started businesses. Cheers to the 50-plusers.

    I started my first business in my early 30’s. Around 47 I decided to close the business and become a suburban housewife. My husband asked me if I could get a part time job just to offset some of the expenses. I found a part time job that lasted 2 weeks. During that time I realized there was a need for new products, and 20 years later I am still loving it. I love being an entreprenuer because it frees me to do what I want, when I want, and with whom I want. It has been very rewarding.
