Cousins, best friends, sisterly love, a Hawaiian 50th Birthday Party, and a cherished childhood recipe was the inspiration behind Toffee Talk, an artisan, award-winning confections company. Catherine Hughes and Ellin Purdom had successful careers in the Real Estate and Investment worlds, but a trip celebrating Catherine’s 50th Birthday with 12 of their closest friends brought a different sort of flavor and richness to their lives. Through many long talks, these friends recommended that Catherine use her Godmother’s Toffee recipe to start a new career.
Using high quality ingredients Toffee Talk is made in small batches and is hand broken, hand wrapped, and “made with love” as quoted by Ellin. Furthermore, the toffee is all natural, gluten-free, with no additives, and has a shelf life of up to 6 months. They sell five Toffee Products: Almond, Pecan, Red Walnut, Peanut & Crumble Mumble. The Red Walnut Toffee receives a lot of buzz because Catherine and Ellin use a rare breed of red walnuts that are grown in California.
The grind of the brick and mortar store was not meant for them, so their product can be found at selected specialty food stores and easily purchased on their website www.cjstoffeetalk.com. Toffee Talk with its fancy themed ribbon and bows is a real treat for special events like: weddings, showers, birthday parties, and holidays. Catherine and Ellin are talking the talk through employees at Google with a monthly order of 10,000 pieces.
Since 2009, Toffee Talk has won a series of respectable awards such as 2012 “Best Toffee in America” from the Taste Awards & 2013 Gold Medal winner or San Francisco Chocolate Salon, Best Toffee.
