Did I mention I can’t wait to see MAGIC MIKE XXL? (See my Summer Movie Preview Part I) It opens July 1 and kicks the second half of the summer movie season into high gear! Here are the rest of the movies I can’t wait to see as the summer movie season heats up!

We know Channing Tatum’s still got it– but does Ah-nold? In this sequel to the iconic original, Schwarzenegger heads back to 1984 and takes on a younger version of himself with “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor and Oscar winner J.K. Simmons (“Whiplash”) to whip up the action! Does the older Arnold beat the crap out of his younger self proving once and for all that men only get better after 50? We know women do.

July 10: SELF/LESS

The theme continues in another sci-fi tale of a sick, aging man, Oscar-winner Sir Ben Kingsley, whose mind is transplanted into the healthy young body of another man– Ryan Reynolds! Good choice. But things go awry in this thriller when the older man starts making inquiries about where his body came from and why. Michelle Dockery (“Downton Abbey”), Matthew Goode (good in everything) and Victor Garber round out the cast.

I don’t care what she’s doing– I’d see this season’s “it” girl Amy Schumer (fabulous host of the 2015 MTV Movie Awards) in anything. Here she stars as a one-night-stand-kind of girl who finally meets a doctor, SNL’s Bill Hader, who seems to really like her, calls her after an encounter, and asks her out again– apparently cause for a freak-out these days and maybe even a restraining order. Judd Apatow directs this hilarious cast including Colin Quinn, Vanessa Bayer, Tilda Swinton, Marisa Tomei, and Brie Larson plus surprise cameos from sports stars and a reportedly hilarious turn by basketball giant Lebron James!

July 17: ANT-MAN

And how about this–a sci-fi superhero played in miniature by Paul Rudd as “Ant Man”? Adorable. Just thinking about him saying, “I’m Ant-Man” has me rolling in the aisles. I don’t care what he’s doing, saving the world or invading a picnic, Paul Rudd is my kind of super hero with supporting work from Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale, and “Mad Men”‘s John Slattery.

Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt in another death-defying action thriller that has him once again doing his own stunts. This time we find him actually strapped to the side of an Airbus A400M cargo plane 3000 feet in the air! Clearly this is mission possible for the testosterone-fueled, adrenaline-addicted Cruise who continues to defy the limits of endurance in pursuit of box office domination, and joined by Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, and Alec Baldwin.

Things relax in August as I sit back and prepare to laugh myself silly at the thought of SNL’s Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, and Kate McKinnon teaming up with Owen Wilson and the odd, hysterical Zach Galifianakis in this true life tale of the so-called “Hill-billy Heist.” Country bumpkins rob an armored car and spend their haul on velvet Elvis’s and such. Directed by the same man who gave us cult fave “Napolean Dynamite,” Jared Hess.

No movie season would be complete without Meryl Streep flexing her considerable thespian muscle in yet another role that calls for hidden talents and a character we haven’t seen her play before. Here Streep stars as a rock n’ roll mama opposite her real life daughter Mamie Gummer. It seems mama has always preferred life on the road to baking brownies with her three kids; now that there’s a crisis at home, she’s waltzed back to Indiana only to find herself out of tune with the discord in her wake. Check out Rick Springfield in black eyeliner as Ricki’s bandmate and lover, and Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald who stepped in as step mom to fill the gap. The great Jonathan Demme (“The Silence of the Lambs”) directs.
