There was a time when what doctors pulled out of their black bags was a great mystery. It still is, but the black bag of tricks has been replaced by smartphone apps and computer tablets as doctors are more frequently turning to technology to assist with their treatment of ailments and diseases. As this method of handling patients takes on steam, veteran physicians can’t help but question whether things like bedside manner, compassion, and human contact are falling to the wayside.
