NYTimes: A Man. A Woman. Just Friends?

Lots of women have gay male best friends, but can women maintain a close friendship with a straight male friend- without the sex or intimacy?  Would you be ok with your husband having a really close woman friend who was straight? How do we view the platonic friendship?  Is it a myth or is it a natural in this day and age where women and men occupy equal status in society?  Read one woman’s opinion here.
