Today, we’re thinking about the importance of cleaning up. We all need to be conscious of what we’re putting on our bodies and using in our spaces.
Did you know that skin absorbs over 60% of what we put on it, plus whatever’s floating around in the atmosphere? It’s so incredibly important to focus on a better, more conscious existence—without leaving a trail of toxic footprints.
With that in mind, here are our top recommendations for you this week:
We recently started this weekly facial routine: it’s amazing and makes us feel like Cleopatra. The certified organic mask set is made with chlorophyll algae (known for blasting blemishes and repressing wrinkle production), Amazonian white clay (its special minerals travel deep into your pores to unclog and absorb excess oil, all while removing dead skin), matcha green tea (gets rid of toxins and free radicals that cause aging) and Brazilian tourmaline crystal. It comes with this beautiful bowl and vegan brush that you use to mix the clay mask. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes, and the crystals become positively charged on one end and negatively charged on the other, allowing nutrients, minerals, and antioxidants to penetrate deep into the dermis. Be a goddess and work this into your beauty routine—you’ll love the results.
There have been tons of studies suggesting that radiation from smart phones is bad for us and could even be a cause of cancer. We’re not trying to scare you, because we all use our phones way too much, however, it IS important to minimize exposure. Top tip: don’t sleep next to your phone at night, and use a headset whenever possible while you’re talking on it. And, annoyingly, the metal wires in headsets can actually increase radiation—but not this one. This patented bluetooth headset uses air tubes instead of metal wires, dramatically reducing radiation by up to 98% as tested by the FCC. We highly recommend you use these for your long term health!
We discovered artisan Pamela Stone years ago…she started experimenting with edible flowers and using salt and sugar blends to preserve them. She cooked copious delicious meals for friends and family, and soon, it became a huge sensation with people requesting her unique blends. These are two of her best-selling salt and sugar blends. If you like sweet, indulge in: Cardamon Rose; Chocolate Chipotle; Lavender Ginger; Strawberry Basil Black Pepper; Tangerine Thyme Bittersweet Chocolate; Vanilla Chamomile and Wild Blueberry Meyer Lemon Mint. If you’re more into savory: Green Tea Wasabi Toasted Black Sesame Sea Salt; Lavender Herbs de Provence; Lemon Thyme Merlot Sea Salt; Mango Habanero Pepper Salt; Pink Himalayan Flower Salt; Strawberry Sriracha Sea Salt and Tropical Fruit Chipotle Black Hawaiian Black Sea Salt. We use these to flavor everything from meats to salads. So delicious.
Why switch from using lotions to oils? Did you know that in America, we’re obsessed with lotion, but in Europe and Asia, body oil is the best way to hydrate your skin? In many body lotions, the manufacturer adds other filler ingredients to create the cream, whereas for oils, you are getting the maximum ingredients most of the time. Also, oil protects the skin’s lipid barrier and is great for preventing moisture from evaporating from the skin. Natural oils are easily absorbed and don’t clog pores. This is our favorite body oil from an amazing company we discovered in Australia; it’s made with 12 cold-pressed natural oils of the highest quality and concentration with no preservatives… Check it out!
Who doesn’t love long lashes? We recently discovered Wink—essentially Latisse without the risk—developed by an MIT student. Wink comes in packs of two, which last for a whopping four months! This is an exclusive product for you now through October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month), the company will donate a set of Wink to a cancer patient to help them grow their lashes back after chemo. It’s a win-win for everyone and we’re really proud to support this cause.
In case you missed them last week, here are two of BA50’s best-sellers:
These tiny needles (don’t worry, they tickle more than anything) penetrate the skin to increase collagen production (collagen is everything!), reduce your pore size, oil production and fine lines—and enhance the effectiveness of topical creams or serums. This under-the-radar brand’s kit that you use 2-3 times a week comes with an organically preserved anti-aging serum. Roll this derma tool on my face and neck before applying the super-moisturizing serum. You will see great improvement in the texture of your skin.
Dance while you cook! If you love the daily routine of listening to music and sipping wine while cooking a meal, you will love this kitchen mat. One of our chef friends recommended this brand, called Wellness Mats. Super comfortable to stand on, stain-proof and with beveled edges that will never curl. Can’t believe I ever cooked without one…
Warmly,
Your Friends at BA50 & Emma the AHA Concierge
