Critics of Death with Dignity laws feared that poor people might be pressured into killing themselves when they could not afford end of life care, but statistics show that it is overwhelmingly the white, well educated and financially stable who take advantage of assisted suicide laws. And they are not necessarily taking advantage of assisted suicide because they are in pain, but because they want to have control over their deaths.
