fashion weekWhen you talk about New York Fashion Week– and you do if you love fashion, it’s the topic that leads into all types of questions for me:  How did I get to go?   Do I need an assistant?   Do I get to see any movie stars?   Yes, it does make for some good banter.

I have been very lucky and blessed to be a part of the international press corps, to stand at the end of the runways to report from New York Fashion Week inside the Tents at both Bryant Park, and now at Lincoln Center since 2009.  I was lucky to shoot for Planet Fashion and attend Paris Fashion Week a few years ago.  A bucket list and shoot the Chanel show will be something I’ll never forget.

My online fashion magazine, Fashionably Austin is a place to share local fashion news about designer, boutiques and events I launched in 2009.  Prior to that, I was Austin’s first fashion reporter for a local news station sharing all aspects of the growing fashion scene.

In November I launched a new blog called Fashionably Cheryl.  Since I’m 53, I searched for an all fashion style blog where I could get some inspiration.  I would post outfits on my Facebook page and would get a pretty hefty response so I jumped in and started a blog.

For Better After 50 I will interpret the fashions coming off the runway and interpret them for the timeless and classic gal.  Stay tuned for some great street style from the Tents too.

Despite one cancelled flight, two New York snow storms, I’m here….so let Fashion Week begin! New york fashion week
