Fashion Over Fifty: Ageless Chic
Check Out These Fashion Photos! Just because we are Over Fifty doesn’t mean we don’t want to be “in the know”. ...
My name is Wendy and I am a new contributor to Better After 50. I am so excited to be a part of this online community because it looks like you, the readers, are open-minded and embrace alternative view points. That's a good thing because I have had several careers and have explored many avenues. After college, I went to nursing school and became a Registered Nurse. One year after dealing with very sick and dying patients, I decided I better do something more uplifting. Why I chose law still baffles me, but I attended Law School at night while working as a nurse during the days. As a lawyer, I fell in to an easy niche representing doctors who were sued for malpractice. I ended up liking being a nurse better than a lawyer. After my kids were born, I was fortunate enough to stop working to care for them. About 10 years ago, a friend of mine suggested I go see this man he met who did Energy Medicine. It wasn't until over 4 years later, that I finally attended one of this man's week long retreats, and I was hooked. I have continued studying energy medicine for over 6 years and it fills in the gaps of Western Medicine that I always sensed were missing as a nurse. It has also helped me find a part of myself that I lost just trying to make it in this life. How did I end up doing this, writing about fashion, you ask yourself. Funny you should ask. When my youngest went off to college last year I was lost. However, my deepest passion has always been about fashion. I thought it's probably a crazy idea, but If I don't do something with fashion now, I will never do it. So I started a blog, a Facebook page, got on Tumber, Instagram and you name it. This was home. I'm not just about fashion either. I'm about helping to change the status quo which is; that as women after a certain age, we are too old, or passe, or no longer useful. That's hogwash. My goal is to help every woman find that passion within herself that she too may have lost along the way. Through my writings I have been able to encourage women to follow their dreams. I have presented more enjoyable ways for women to embrace fashion and to have fun creating who they are, no matter what age. Currently, I am working on projects to help women live their dreams of becoming models. We did our first show at Bloomingdales in Chicago with all Over Fifty women and it was a great success. The women who participated were on Cloud 9 after the show. It did so much to help their self-esteem, and I am so proud of the work I am contributing to help every woman Over Fifty shine every day she is alive!!
