A Shoe That Changed Her Life

Lauren Mehrberg earned a B.A. in Studio Art and Art History from Smith College in 1986. After graduating, Lauren studied at the Gemological Institute of America and completed programs in Graduate Gemology, Jewelry Manufacturing Arts and Jewelry Design. At the renowned GIA Diamond Grading Laboratory, Lauren reported on color, cut and clarity of diamonds. There she discovered the fascinating and unique properties within the stones. Later she handled appraisals, gemstone purchases and custom jewelry commissions at jewelry boutiques in Boston and Chevy Chase, Maryland. Lauren is a member of The Society of American Mosaic Artists. She participated in Needham Open Studios for several years and has had solo exhibitions at the Wellesley and Weston libraries. She is now part of the Mixed Media Innovations show at Renjeau Gallery in Natick, MA through April 30, 2016. Recently, Lauren has begun teaching private and semi-private classes and loves to share her knowledge and enthusiasm. Lauren draws upon her training and creativity to produce vibrant and gem-like works of mosaic art that should be seen in person to be fully appreciated. She lives in Massachusetts with her family and her two cats, Leo and Iris.
