After going through cancer treatments and facing my own mortality, I wanted to do something that I enjoyed every day and could make a difference to other women’s lives. After surviving breast cancer treatments, risks like a new business venture at age 51 seemed mild in comparison! I left my job at a Fortune 100 company, and created the solution, Haralee.com Sleepwear. I created my company around a need I saw in a niche market. I had 27 years in sales and sales management of consumer goods and pharmaceuticals. I used the best practices culled from my business career background for my own company. I made a couple of prototypes of nightgowns from old bike shorts using my 35 year old sewing machine and showed it to my breast cancer support group. They went wild with enthusiasm so I knew I had touched upon a need and a potential success. The sleepwear sold at Haralee.com is designed from moisture wicking material that quickly transports the sweat away from the body and creates a more comfortable night sleep. I use models who are friends and who either are cancer survivors or once removed from cancer. It is my pleasure to show beautiful women surviving and their daughters, sisters and friends modeling in support! We are a company with a lot of heart, soul and a little but too much sweat! Because I want my customers to feel good about their purchase on every level, we donate a portion of every sale to breast cancer research and we are made in the USA. Never in a million years did I think a breast cancer diagnosis would lead to becoming an entrepreneur!
