Christina McDowell, PhD is a therapist in private practice, coach/mentor for creative professionals, and founder of The Wellness Collaborative in Kansas City, MO. She says she’s been around so long, she’s starting to last longer than some psychological theories. She really enjoys helping women find their authentic voice and find their way in this beautiful and somewhat messy thing called life. She thinks our stories matter, that we are more beautiful than we believe, and that mentoring is essential for optimal growth. She is a daughter of an entrepreneur, a mother of two beautiful smart young women, a granddaughter of a country midwife, and a great-granddaughter of a Russian mail-order bride who ran two brothels and bootlegged during the prohibition. Let’s just say she came by her renegade nature honestly. She earned her PhD at Saybrook University in San Francisco, CA, in Integrative Health Psychology under the mentorship of Jeannie Achterberg, PhD. She is currently pursuing AASECT certification in Sex Therapy at The Buehler Institute in Los Angeles, CA. She blogs for Huffington Post and has been featured in several publications, books, and on local radio. She can be reached at cmcdowelphd@gmail.com.
