The sun is shining. Summer has begun and I can’t wait to get home to my new besties each night. My laptop is delivering 6 seasons of pure escape from the comfort of my bed on Amazon Prime. I have turned on and tuned into “A Place To Call Home” for the past 2 weeks. It has been described as a “compelling melodrama about love and loss set against the social change of the 1950s”. The show ended after six seasons in 2018.

I have dark circles under my eyes, I can’t concentrate as I’m sleep deprived and there’s no sign that my behavior will improve because I have no intention of giving this up.

This show is addictive and I have all the signs of an addict. I think about ways to escape to my bedroom to watch. I wake up in the middle of the night and like a true binger, I click on the next episode even though I know I should turn it off and go to sleep. After all it’s often 3:30 in the morning and I just keep watching until 5:30 am.

Normally I read at 3:30 in the morning to fall back to sleep, but sleep no more because “A Place To Call Home” has got me in it’s clutches.

It’s an Australian family saga set just after World War II. The characters are so well developed I care deeply about them. I can’t remember the last time I was so absorbed in a series.

What will happen to George…to James? Will Livy find love? How can Sara handle her burdens? When can I go to Australia?

By the way, I blame my friends from Book Club. One woman sent an email saying she had just finished watching this and it was a must. BTW she’s a top notch lawyer with a solid brain which makes this obsession ok.

And now, I”m sharing this with all of you and I want to hear what you think of this. Let’s start a discussion on our Facebook page. I will post the link.

Don’t Blame me for this. Just let go and have fun.

Happy Watching!
