Being a jock, I love to read studies about exercise and aging and was thrilled to find this New York Times piece last week.

Get up and get moving is the big take-away from this article. The older we get, the more we benefit from exercise. Interval training (biking in particular) and weight training are all beneficial.

That’s the conclusion of the most emailed post from the New York Times last week about our aging muscles.

What is incredible is, there is so much research being done about how to deal with our aging body and strength but the bottom line remains the same….we all need to keep exercising.

But what’s the best kind?

Apparently cycling is a winning workout. They compared younger and older people and…

“The older people’s cells responded in some ways more robustly to intense exercise than the cells of the young did” — suggesting, he says, “that it is never too late to benefit from exercise.”
