Solve The Spring Stress With The Sassy Six!
Feeling overwhelmed with the thought of Spring fever? Worrying that you have nothing to wear? This seasonal transition period can wreak havoc with your sense of style, your Saturday to-do list and your self-confidence.
One day it’s so frigid your most fashionable accessory is your breath and the next day you have the sun roof open with the heat pumping to the rhythm of Katy Perry.
So what will tomorrow bring, your smelly Uggs or sandals with socks? How’s a girl to plan??
Here are six sassy season-less pieces that will bridge the gap!
#1 – A crisp white all-season blouse! It’s perfect in the dead of winter and as a cheater to bridge the season. This is my all time favorite crisp white blouse! Brooks Brothers Non-Iron Dress Shirt specially treated to remain virtually wrinkle-free and machine washable, what’s better than that! Magic words for those of you who refuse to even own an iron – let alone an ironing board! It like a crossword puzzle – so many fit options!
#2 – A new pair of traffic stopping dark wash jeans. One day you can wear them with your black bootie and the next day wear them with your sassy sandals. Have you tried NYDJ’s yet (whisper Not Your Daughters Jeans) – this is not a dirty phrase. Traffic stopping jeans shouldn’t be about the latest trend. Look for the shape that looks best on your body. A straight leg or boot-cut with a mid rise are the best styles to start with, as they will flatter most shapes. A dark wash will give you the longest, leanest leg line. When you do find your best fitting jean, stock up. Keep a pair longer in length to wear with heels, while hemming the other to wear with flats.
# 3 – A pop of color belt, necklace, bag or all three! Nothing says well dressed like accessories! This necklace would look fabulous with your bright white shirt.
“A thoroughly embellished chain-link centerpiece projects pops of color and shine from a gilded necklace designed to rest comfortably flush against the collarbone.”

# 4 – A fitted leather or pleather jacket! They are on trend this spring and the price points can match your comfort level, higher for leather and lower for pleather! There is something very “smart” about a structured jacket. It can elevate a pair of jeans and a white shirt into a more pulled together ensemble. Leather jackets have moved beyond the young rebels who favored them in black motorcycle styles. They now come in a variety of shapes, styles, colors and price points. Choose the one that best fits your own shape and lifestyle.
“Simple V-neck styling with a paneled front and patch pockets brings fresh sophistication to an essential leather jacket.”
“Quilted details on the shoulders and sleeves offer trendy texture to a faux-leather jacket with an updated cropped hem.”
# 5 – A lightweight stylish multi-color sweater! Be careful not to let all your sweaters look like Mr. Roger’s sweater, shop with purpose and look for sweaters with a bit of pizzazz like the new statement sweaters from Nic & Zoe. They have burst into the knitwear scene with great creativity and style and are available in regular petite and plus sizes!
“Ombré streaks of soft mineral color swirl over the lacy pointelle knit of a relaxed sweater fashioned with three-quarter sleeves. The sheer style comes with a tank-like lining for perfect coverage.”
# 6 – The sassy sandal! Take stock of what those spring shoes that you stashed under the bed last November actually look like. Should they have a field trip to the cobbler or the dump? Grab a new pair – probably well deserved on your part for having endured wearing boots 24/7 for the last 7 months!
These are my favorites! Nordstrom Exclusive – Vince Camuto ‘Effel’ Sandal, available in M and W – good for bunions – shhhh!
“A summer-staple huarache sandal is given a modern overhaul with a geometric heel and open-back.”
