Facebook-for-Women 50 and upThis list is something you will want to share with friends (excuse the pun).

If you are on Facebook, you probably have been asked over and over to “like” someone’s page.  Should you? It depends.  When you “like” a page, its posts will show up in your newsfeed–if you are interested in what the business or website or group is talking about, then sure, “like” them.  You will enjoy getting their posts.  Note that a personal Facebook “profile”  is different than a Facebook “page.”   We don’t “like” personal Facebook pages;  we get invited to connect as friends.  Here are a few knockout Facebook pages you won’t want to miss.  And stay tuned–this is just a start; we know we will find more.

1. Better After 50

Of course we think this Facebook page is a gem. We vet the good stuff for women ages 50 and up, so when you turn 50, give yourself a gift. Find out what’s trending in the news, stuff you shouldn’t miss on YouTube, links to thought leaders, and highlights from the entertainment world.  Not only will you get a daily dose of inspiration that you won’t be able to resist sharing, you’ll find links to BA50’s favorite edgy articles about sex, your body, relationships and politics. Giveaways, contests and freebies are also offered. http://www.facebook.com/ba50.join.us

2. Life Goes Strong
We certainly “get” why almost 18,000 midlifers “like” this page.  It has a little bit of everything that women over 50 would be interested in.  Looking for how to buy the perfect bra with the perfect fit? Interested in finding the perfect pair of cool sunglasses for $12.00?  Do you think Dustin Hoffman is sexy?  Do you think you might be affected by Seasonal Affective Disorder  (very aptly named SAD)?  This Facebook page is vibrant and up to date, and has compelling articles and great suggestions for buys.  http://www.facebook.com/LifeGoesStrong

3. The Three Golden Sisters
In a word, hysterical!  If you are looking for some great “naughty” pictures, funny videos made by grandmas, and advice from three Italian nanas, look no further.  Think dogs driving cars and old ladies in pink hats and scarves.  Guaranteed to add a smile to your day, and who doesn’t need that?  http://www.facebook.com/the3goldensisters

4. Grown and Flown
Because parenting never ends, does it?  The articles posted on this page are extremely well written, researched and intelligent.  You won’t find great buys on this page, but you might find an article about parenting tips learned from watching Downton Abbey.  Go to this page when you want the company of other BA50s whose kids are also leaving the nest.  http://www.facebook.com/grownandflown

5. Old School Do You Remember – Photos
Take a walk down memory lane.  Go to their photos and you will fall in love all over again with things from your childhood.  Pictures tell a thousand words.  Too wonderful to write about it.  Just go and take a look.

6. Smitten Kitchen
Do you love to cook?  Do you love absolutely stunning pictures of food?  From baby food to stuffed cabbage, Smitten Kitchen has it all.  You look at this page and you just want to make everything.  We are going to finish this piece quickly so we can go buy the ingredients to make Salted Caramel Brownies.  Enough said.

7. Good Vibrations
All things sex.  Frank talk.  Good Vibrations has been in business for 36 years.  If you are wondering anything about sex–whether it is old school: “how do I have better sex after 50?” or new school:  “What do I do when my grandson wears a dress to kindergarten?”  This page has a lot to offer.

8.  HuffPost 50
In true HuffPost style, their Facebook page earmarked for the 50-year-old crowd is a catchall for everything celeb, outrageous, and splashy.  It’s pure entertainment: “Can you guess how old these celebrities are?” to the “Did the nurse who refused CPR do the right thing?”  Huff Po/50 is anything but boring.  Yes, of course you have our attention.   http://www.facebook.com/HuffPost50

9.  Fab After 50 UK  (International)
We love our U.K. counterpart. Great perspective from the continent gives us a global connection to what British women are thinking and talking about. Plus, they have a sense of humor. When giving advice to readers about “style” after 50 they phrase it this way “Just a few tips….how NOT to look like mutton dressed like lamb.” Isn’t that so Brit?    http://www.facebook.com/Fabafterfifty.co.uk

10. The Art of Aging
Oh, this is definitely a “feel good” site. Great nostalgic pictures (their Silly Putty photo gave my memory a jolt). Funny pictures of aging babes encourage us to laugh out loud at ourselves as we humbly embrace our own reality. Come to this FB page and smile and you’ll start to believe that Aging is an Art.

11. My Itchy Travel Feet
This page inspires Boomers to get off the couch and go with the latest travel advice, news and deals for planning your next trip.  If you are a BA50 who loves to travel, this is the place to get inspiration from everything from dogsled rides to warm winter getaways. Dream, then do.
